About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Programme Support SME to support the delivery of the British Army's next-generation artillery capability, the RCH155 Self-Propelled Howitzer Programme.

This high-profile role will provide subject matter expertise across multiple contracts supporting the development, testing, procurement, and delivery of the RCH155 platform. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to ensure programme objectives are achieved and key milestones are delivered.

Background

The British Army identified the requirement to replace the AS90 155mm self-propelled howitzer capability. Following a competitive assessment, the RCH155 was selected as the preferred next-generation artillery system to meet future operational requirements.

The programme includes activities relating to:

  • Early Concept Demonstrator (ECD) delivery
  • Long Lead Item procurement
  • Qualification, Range and Accuracy trials
  • Series production and delivery of RCH155 platforms
  • Collaborative procurement activities under the Trinity House agreement
  • Delivery of Minimum Deployable Capability (MDC) by 2029

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist programme and technical support across RCH155-related contracts.
  • Support procurement, delivery, testing, and acceptance activities.
  • Engage with military, industry, and programme stakeholders.
  • Contribute to programme governance, risk management, and delivery planning.
  • Provide expert advice to support achievement of programme objectives and milestones.
  • Assist in ensuring capability requirements are delivered in line with operational needs.

Required Experience

  • Strong programme or project delivery experience within Defence environments.
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Experience supporting complex equipment acquisition or capability programmes.
  • Understanding of contract delivery and programme assurance activities.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge or experience of military land vehicles and associated systems.
  • Experience supporting artillery, combat vehicle, or defence equipment programmes.
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Defence procurement and delivery processes.
